KNOT SCHOOL- Zpagetti Macrame Hanger.....how to

To begin with, you'll need some Zpagetti, it's very soft and stretchy stuff so opt for the lesser stretchy if you can. This bundle was 120m and retails at $18.95
Chat with Gwen if you need help!

This yarn lends itself to be soft and chunky so don't be frugal, the end finish will be the bomb!
To make a hanger like mine you need to use 60m!
Cut 12 x 5m lengths.
Fold in half and drape through a metal ring. (Craft shops sell them)
I use the IKEA packet clasps to help act as an extra pair of hands.

Bound the yarn together using the wrapping knot!
my wrappping knot is 7cm.

Divide the yarn into equal fours and create the Chinese Crown Knot.

 Repeat this knot! .......7-10 times?

Divide the yarn again into equal fours, this is called an arm.
You should have six strands of yarn in each arm.
Using the Square Knot, macrame each arm with 4-5 knots.

Here's a good time to thread on some fancy things, copper, beads etc

Add a couple of Square Knots to secure these beads on the twine.
Now divide each arm in half, and join two halves from separate arms together. (six strands of yarn)
Make sure they don't cross over each other!
Pop on some beads and fix with four of squares knots.

 Now repeat this process!
Divide each arm in half, and join two halves from separate arms together. (six strands of yarn)
Make sure they don't cross over each other!
Pop on some beads and fix with four of squares knots

At this point securely hang up your hanger and test with your chosen pot before you finish off!
Make sure the pot will sit comfortably and safely, use the IKEA clips to hold your yarn together and assess with your macrame eye, before going on?
Carry on or stop.... have a cuppa, be sure?

To end the hanger you could bind the yarn together with another wrapping knot .....or using the square knot by macrameing the arms together!
Divide each arm yarn in half and knot two halves together from separate arms.
Remember to knot arms side by side not across from each other.
This creates a ring of knots, make a few rings.

To finish, cut the remaining yarn into a neat tassel, pop in your favourite pot and gaze at your amazingness!...job done!

If you give this tutorial a go, send me a pic, I would love to see it!
Any questions/ hassles ask? ...happy to help! :)

This tutorial is for personal use only, please share and link with love....just saying :)

KNOT SCHOOL.....Knot #6

Welcome to KNOT SCHOOL

Today is the sixth in a series of posts, where I show you 7 basic Macramé knots.
You have been watching me for the past 18 months now it's your turn!

This very useful knot is for beginning and ending a Macramé hanger.

KNOT #6
Wrapping Knot

Create a loop with the twine your wrapping with, over the twine to be wrapped.
Wrap up, over the loop, with your twine. Remember to leave a tail to use later.
When you reach the end, feed your twine through the loop.
Pull on the bottom tail twine, this pulls your knot under the wrapping and secures it.
All wrapped up!

Place 3, over 6.
Place 6, over 9.

Use the IKEA clips to manage long lengths of twine! A good tip! :)
