Some explaining to do!

Fablefolk bangles

So now that I have lured you to read this post with a pretty picture of the work of FableFolk.

I know I've got some explaining to do!
Where have I been? I had such big plans for this blog!

Well I have been seduced by the evil temptress that is Instagram, I'm there alot and so pleased that alot of you are there too!! #suckedintoo

I now speak in #hashtags ....that my students find highly annoying and I find highly amusing! :0

I divert!
A series of incidences from December 2013 to now, has forced me too reconsider my actions, my goals and what I want from this creative life?

Here's the deal!

I need a change from the pace of Ouch Flower, I needed more time to do the things I love and best of all, more time to be a better parent!
So I have put my shops on hold, I'm taking a break from tassel making and macramé knotting!
I'm making a return back to pottery as I want to create in porcelain again!

The tassels have been a real joy to me but my claim on my work has been shaky.
The advent of social media and pinterest has encouraged others to recreate what they see, with no consideration of the maker they are copying etc.
Now to see something and create for personal satisfaction is OK with me, knock yourself out!
but to peddle the wares on social media as your own, well I struggled with that greatly.
So the decision to share my ideas, processes and knowledge is the best answer I can come up with? ...cause the battle to hold onto my design is not worth it?
I can't control the foibles of others?
So to share what I do with you, is in the hope you'll share my knowledge with others, in an open and authentic way!

So look forward to some tassel and macramé DIY this year!

Lastly we at chez Ouch have been blessed with the knowledge that three will become four! #ouchbaby
I thought that my run was done and was making peace with that when the morning sickness train well and truly arrived!
It's been a shock, a blessing, a joy and slightly annoying but I'm up for more stretch marks!

So I leave you with another pretty picture and hope to be back soon!

  7. Instagram is okay. I still think blogging's better. I miss you here.
Boo to tassel 'thieves'! Yay to new baby's! (ceramic, and real)
Your garden's looking great Pipstar - how many stones did you use? Crikey! It looks like you laid 'em on quite thickly.
    Take care x

    1. We over ordered on the stones but hey it will soften once the plants grow? I'm thinking if buying some wire gabians to use the excess in? Bit of form and height in the garden? xx

  8. Oh, Pippa, how wonderful- it's out in the open now and I can leave baby comments:-) I'm so excited about your porcelain project, the stuff I've seen from your hand so far is sooo promising!!! So sorry you feel like you're loosing ownership of your tassels, so sad that people can't be open about their sources and credit them! I'm with you on the IG theme.... Someone called it lazy blogging- so true!! I'm trying to work up the energy to write a post tonight after a Saturday of thrifting. I've completely lost my blogging mojo. I haven't been thrifting much lately either... However, I do love staying in touch with you guys, and reading your posts is always a treat!!! Best of luck with your crafty endeavors, sweetie!!

    1. Thanks so much Aunty Tove! ...it's sad the tassel have turned into a hassle but it will work out in the end! I'm glad I have some in Norway! Thrifting is another thing that has gone by the wayside too! More blog and more thrift I say! xx

  9. I'm thrilled for you about the baby, and I'm glad you're getting back into porcelain work, since you're so talented at it.

I know you put a lot of time and effort into your tassels, and it's a shame that people have copied them...but I bet they won't have the talent to copy your pottery!

I go on Instagram a little more often now, just to see what all of you are up to because I miss you, but my SIL does the posting for the store on his account. Since my blog is as textual as it is visual, I will stick to this format till blogging becomes completely obsolete.

  10. Congratulations again! Such a wonderful time for you and your family. Sorry to hear the negative side of the creative community has impacted you. It can be hard to ignore those external happenings and focus on what makes us happy. If ceramic is the answer then that's fantastic. But don't let anyone else stop you from making what you want to make. xx

  14. I hear you about the blogging part - instagram seems to be where everyone is at. And I hear you about having your designs ripped off - it's not cool at all and makes me sad for you. Fortunately you are talented and multi-faceted and will continue to innovate...And hooray for your little one on the way. That is the best news. xx

  15. Blotches of shame are rising to my cheeks! I had obviously not read all the way to the end of this post, and it is not until I saw your stretchmarks creme picture on Instagram just now, that I realized that you are expecting: Congratulations!!!!!
