Corner of my Home

So pleased to be apart of Donna and Kylie's Blog link in today!

I'm definitely a Retro girl!

This is our Lounge room, a mix of collected Mid Century and trusty IKEA!
These leather sofa's are super comfy and very kid friendly!
They are small and wide and it was love at first sight!
I was told they were Danish!
and the leather could be Reindeer? =:0

......but I have seen their like in 'Real Living' and they called them Italian, so you choose!

Note the original tassel too :)

My books, glass and pottery collections!
I gaze at my Devil Ivy's and assess their growth daily!
I think they un-IKEA my IKEA shelves?

One day they will be a pair of 'String' shelf system!

....and say hello (Kylie) to my Fig!
I love house plants and she's a bit special!

The following pic's were again taken by 'Ouch Boy'! ...no lie
I think I will hand over the camera to him from now on, I genuinely suspect a creative eye.

Fiddle Leaf Fig

The composition of these pic's, intrigues me....

Looking forward to seeing everybody's homes today!
I will bring the cake!

New WG, New friend x 2, New Macrame!

 New WG!
An amazing glaze too!
Me thinks a dry barium glaze, the copper carbonate makes the blue/purples in glazes which I love!
Correct me if I'm wrong...my clay brain is a bit dusty!

Today I'm linking in with Lou from Little Green Shed
She has a blog link in, every Saturday, where you can showcase what 'Nature' things you have brought into the home called
"Nature in the Home"

Isn't that up our alley? ....join in..let's show them what lovely Aussie Flora we have!!
Mine today is a weed?
We picked it up on the way home from the beach...as you do!

 A New Macrame
I'm on a roll, this one I have dip dyed twice, a bit of a wet logistic nightmare but well worth the results?

I will continue with this type of macramé wall hanging I think and will have them in the shop soon!

.....a small but heart felt thanks to you lovely folk who have taken the time to comment time and time again...it spur's me on and I really really appreciate it! xx

Another new friend!
Seen in an oppy by another new friend, who knew I was on the look out!...Thanks Estelle !!!!
Now it's assembled...I'm slowly figuring out how to warp it!
Gotta love retro instructions!
...then it's weave time!
I have loads of naughty tassels to repurpose and I'm slightly excited!!!

If your in Melbourne?..I'm so over this heat! :(

If your not?
What's the weather like at your place?

:: Retro Cook Off

Don't fear Ladies and Gents, I have Xmas covered, follow me to the path of deliciousness and no hassle!

Take the Spam, Peaches and Cream of celery soup cans, out of the cupboard and begin!

Open up your spam can, pop on a baking tray, slice, and pour over the peach juice and insert some peaches into the slits you have created, too!

It's Xmas so pop in a few cloves as well!

Put into a preheated oven, bake at 180 for 30 min, baste your Xmas ham often and sit back and soak in the spam/peach aroma's!

Mmmm now your impressed and so will be your guests!

Now for a soup/beverage!

It's often hot at Xmas and so you won't want to stand at the stove for this one!
So open up the can, pour soup into the blender with a cold cup of milk, and blend!
Now pour into your best Xmas cup and serve, the kids will love it!

To make this table decoration, clean the spam can, pierce a hole at the bottom, find a small child to colour in your tree, glue to a bamboo stick and insert!

:: Art Glass Vignette

My Art glass collection is growing, I display them amongst my jewellery boxes at the end of my bed.
They are so pretty and girly...in fact this is the most girly I get!

I picked up the peonies on the way home from work, I've taken to awarding myself regularly with flowers after the working week, rather than too much wine.

My bed spread was my maternal grandmothers, I didn't know her well but she collected many nice things that I have been fortunate to have acquired. I think, I might of acquired my taste for collecting from her. More of that for another day!

I'm sharing this with Tania on tomorrow's Scandi Coast "Saturday Style" post, but I'm early because tomorrow is the Retro Cook off at Hung up on Retro and Lucy Violet Vintage....and I've decided to be in two places at once!

Happy weekend!

Since our Crafty Collab share, I have met some new friends in blogland and I'm so pleased your here, your very welcome!

:: Blog-Design-Dedication #1

This will be the first post in my new series of posts, called Blog-Design-Dedication.
This is where I take inspiration from blogs I read and create a macrame piece that I think is reflective of the person and their blog!  (bit of fun really)
I have plenty of macrame ideas and plenty of blogs to source from, so no one is safe really!

BLOG
This dream-catcher/wall hanging has been inspired
by Kylie Lucy Violet Vintage

 DESIGN
It's very retro, which is what Kylie likes but the floral/sun pattern has a delicate vintage vibe, like a nice crochet dress. It's pretty and delicate, which describes our dedicatee, just look at a pic of her!

The pops of orange are a common feature in her home styling as are the W.G pottery!I don't think she is opposed to a bit of fringing either!

Kylie loves teak too!
Kylie, this post I dedicate to you......cause your Ace!

Psst- Kylie and Donna are having a Retro Cook Off,  join in!

:: Winner of the Lovely Vintage Giveaway.

Firstly thanks to everyone for taking the time to comment!
Letting me know how you came to my blog has helped me understand what I want from blogging and my blog but also how to blog successfully!
By successfully, I mean enjoying it and making it your own!

So before the big announcement, I would like to recall to you, how I came across your blog!

Dana @ Mid@Mod
Ohh many moons ago!
I think I was doing a random Mid-Century Google search and your blog came up and I haven't looked back and learnt so much!

Yes the "Man" did tell me, you were blogging and I had just started and I thought if she likes to thrift "she'd be alright"!
(psst... your lovely)

MMMC
Anyone who calls herself Make Mine Mid Century, loves Bitossi and french cuffs, has to be followed!
I think I came across you via Fun and VJ's.

Often if I like the sound of the blog name, I will venture to check out and I did, so pleased I did!
Either through MMMC or Fun and VJ's.

Kylie Hunt @ Paravent
It must have been through my creative space, I must of liked the pic of your work and followed you from "3 sheets" to Paravent!

I think from Paravent but we also like many of the same blogs but the name of your blog would have intrigued me!

I think I might have followed you first, via pinterest? or a comment from another blog? Again I liked the name hello olive!

I saw that Kylie had joined your jubilee swap and I had to join too! :)

Brismod @ Fun and VJs
I was doing a random Google search and came across Modernist Australia, I would have followed a comment from there, so glad I did, loving the adventures of Jason and your bark glass collection!!

I think it may have been a comment you left on Heather Nette King's blog, again the name of your blog, then your absolute dedication to Scandi Coast design!

Kate @ Fox lane
Believe it or not Kate I found you in 2008, around the time of your trip around Australia! Must have been via Pip's Meet me at mikes? I wasn't a blogger then. It was only recently that I remembered you again and became a follower!
Hubby and I are feeling the lure of the road but really I just want to decorate a caravan, just as you did!

I think it might of been our joint membership in the The Thrift collective! and because I love the loot!

A very special welcome too you!

:: West German Pottery Collection

I just can't get enough of West German Pottery!
Here are my lastest recruits to the collection, the lovely mustard yellow with pressed patterns, a nice place for the glaze to pool with the slender handle and the blue ombre with raised geometric patterns.

I purchased them from an etsy store called Eclectivist
Kasia was lovely to deal with and she packaged them well and it was a really great transaction, I warn you though, if you click on the link you might be lighter in the pocket? or a least add her shop to your favourites, remember it's Christmas in July soon!
(note to those of you in the northern hemisphere, Christmas in July, is an Aussie thing, we have the traditional Christmas dinner in our winter because December time can be just too hot!)

The lovely Dana from Mid2Mod awarded me with an award!
I'm very pleased and touched that she thought of me amongst her choices

Recipients of the award are asked to tell seven things about themselves, so here goes!

1- I was born in England in 1975, to an English Father and an Anglo Indian Mother, I married a Scotsman and made an Australian!

2- I wear a ring on my thumb and have done since my early twenties, I have not taken it off and I think I never will.

3- I studied Pottery at University and in my honours year, one of my works was bought by Dame Elizabeth Murdoch, a great philanthropist for the Arts.

4- I heart Sting big time! Everything he does is magic!

5- At school, I was happiest in the Art room or the library.

6- I married in a green dress, made from a Vogue pattern by a dear friend.

7-  I draw everyday.

I now pass on this lovely award to:

Donna @ Hung Up On Retro
(A lovely friend and you'll love her Freaky Friday Posts)

Kylie @ Lucy Violet Vintage
(She's on a blog holiday just now but I just have to share her part of the world with you)

(A Graphic Designer with her finger on the pulse, love her work!)

Kylie @ Paravent
(A Textile Designer who screen prints beautiful work and uses neon pink!)

Tes @ Milkveins
(A sweetie)

Raynor @ The Shy Lion
(A witty Lad, whose blog has loads for lovely knitted/crochet goodness!)

(Maker of Odds&Ends and a crafting mentor for me)

I hope you enjoy visiting their blogs!
